About Etcom Background ETCOM RFID Ltd. was formally founded in mid 2004 following 18 months of intensive activity of its founders studying the RFID related markets and needs. One of the key observations was the huge gap that exists between the basic RFID technology/products and the required applications. Tens of companies have invested millions of USD for developing RFID components with a large variety of capabilities. Several Mega companies and organizations are in the process of implementing various applications for their supply chain, like Wal-Mart, the US DOD, Gillette, Benetton and some more. Unfortunately, for medium and small size potential end-users, which are the majority of the market, there are almost no RFID implementations since many of the traditional integrators are facing various difficulties in investing the required resources for developing viable and justified applications. The result is that for medium and small size companies the need for RFID based applications is unfulfilled.
